It's been two weeks since we finished Grandma's Marathon.
I haven't run since then, but it's not because I've given up on running. I was sore and limping for a week after the marathon, so I didn't want to do too much to add more injury to what I already had. I went to physical therapy this past Wednesday and he suggested that I go visit the sports medicine MD. So I'll go there on Tuesday and see if he can figure out what went wrong with my training. I'm still pretty sure there's some sort of muscular injury, but I'm not an expert.
So what's up on our running schedule? I wish I could run the Lakes 8K (the course is literally down the street from our house) on the 4th of July, but I think that's asking for a miracle. Who knows though, maybe I should give it a try... I guess I haven't ruled it out, but I'd need to find someone to watch the kids and sometimes that seems harder to accomplish than doing the actual run! We're lined up to run the Milk Run, a 5K at the MN State Fair at the end of August. And we're also signed up to do the TC 10 Mile in October on the same day as the Twin Cities Marathon. It's the "Shortcut to the Capital" since it starts and ends at the same spot as the Twin Cities Marathon, but obviously, there are 16.2 miles cut out of the race.
As time goes on, I'm feeling more ok with how things worked out at the marathon. I really don't think I could have given more than I did on that day. So even though I'm disappointed with how I got to the outcome, I still finished, and I am (mostly) proud of that. I feel like there is another marathon in my future because I need to find some way to redeem myself, but I have no plans for when that will happen. We'll see.
