Day 20!

Who's feeling good this morning?

I AM!

I got up and went to the Y for Group Cycle this morning.  I don't know why it took me so long to decide that I could go to that class, but I'm unhappy with myself for not giving it much of a try before a few weeks ago.  Anyway, I'm on the post-exercise high right now, feeling invigorated and ready to take on the day, and it's so great!

Today is Day 20 of the "exercise every day" plan that I'm on.

So far, so good

Can you even believe it?  I'm on Day 18 of exercising!  I'm shocked that I've kept it up for so this long.  Granted, it's not all that long.  But there have been more than a few days when I wanted to just skip the workout for the day but decided that I didn't want to lose my streak so I did it anyway.

Like today, for instance.

Balancing Life

Tomorrow is a monumental day for me.  I am starting a new job.  I feel like that's a pretty big event in anyone's life.  New place.  New people.  New routines.  Wondering if my lunch box will be hip enough.  Trying to figure out what style of scrubs all the cool kids wear.  You know, it's important stuff.

Can't... get... moving...

The kids are at school.  I'm at home.  It's a beautiful 40 degrees outside.

I can't seem to get myself out the door to run.

I know that I have to do it eventually and it makes sense to just get out and do it and get it done with, right?  It's Day 12 of my "new plan" to be active so I can't quite now.  But here I am, writing about how I can't get out the door instead of just putting my running stuff on and getting outside.

So I wonder, how do you get yourself motivated to move?

Trying New Things

My new "thing" is that I need to do some sort of physical activity every day.  For so long, I found myself running 3 or 4 days a week, but I wasn't doing any kind of cross training.  Running was starting to get old and I was dreading it more and more every day.  And I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have gotten injured during the marathon training if I had been doing more cross-training.  Grrr...  So I've learned my lesson and I am now on day 9 of my new plan.

So what am I doing?  I'm glad you asked.  Here's a little rundown.

Runiversary!

I don't know the official date, but I do know that it was a new year's resolution in 2007 that started this whole running business.  So I'm counting January 1st as my runiversary.  You might not be familiar with that term, but I think you can figure it out, right?  It's the day to celebrate when I first started running.

Now, what's to celebrate?  Well, I'm so glad you asked that question!
