It's all me

Running is just you, the work you put in, and the clock.  You can't cheat yourself.  If you don't put in the miles, you can't go to the starting line thinking you're going to pull a miracle out of nowhere.  You get out exactly as much as you put in.  -Desiree Davila

I feel like this quote should be on my wall.

I need it to be somewhere prominent so that I can look at it when I'm training for something and I feel like taking a short cut because I don't feel like doing a full workout or I'm tired or I'd just rather do something else.

Now, it's obvious that I'm never going to be a fantastic runner.  I'm never going to win any races.  I'm never going to be anything but a middle-of-the-pack (but closer to a back-of-the-pack) kind of girl.  I'd also like to stop being disappointed with my running performance.  Whether I'm at a race or if I'm just running around the neighborhood, I'd like to feel good about my run.  More often than not, I don't finish feeling good.

So I guess the moral of the story is, I am the only one to blame when I feel bad about my middle-to-back-of-the-pack accomplishments.
